For the fifth consecutive year, City Schools of Decatur (CSD) has ranked as having the highest Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores in the metro Atlanta area and among the top five school districts in the state.

Of Decatur High School students, an estimated 75 percent of eligible students took the SAT and accumulated an average score of 1,147. A perfect SAT score is 1,600 with 800 total points in math and 800 points in evidence-based reading and writing. The national average SAT score in 2021 was 1,060, placing CSD in the top-ranking school districts in the nation. According to BestColleges.com, only 7 percent of students nationwide scored higher than 1,400.
